To start off, I am appreciative of the resources I have on hand to learn. There is so much online learning available at hand nowadays, like Coursera & Udemy & Khan Academy, as well as initiatives from the govt like that SkillsFut Credit thing (I'd hate to be tracked down by keywords, thus the intentional erroneous spelling, pardon me grammar police)
Anyways, here's a course I've been taking the past few weeks: Learning How to Learn, available at https://www.coursera.org/learn/learning-how-to-learn
I took a screenshot just in case it disappears someday. Which would be a pity cause it's been an interesting course, and not too time-consuming to attend. It's not too difficult to understand, and not too heavy on technical terms and such, while sharing some tips and methods on learning, and related topics like procrastination (how to learn if you procrastinate!), how the brain works (how to learn better if you don't understand the grey and white matter in your skull!) and so on.There's even this syndrome introduced: The Imposter Syndrome. It is about having the fear of being exposed as a fraud for achieving good results, because of a sense of not doing enough to earn those results haha. Interesting stuff. An example would be to guess through a test and acing it, and earning kudos from your peers who think you've studied your material and think you're awesome.
Anyways, it's ironic that when taking this course, I've only depended on the lecture videos and questions/quizzes to learn. I have not employed the methods they've covered, like analogies & metaphors, to enter Focused & Diffused modes, to use the Pomodoro technique of zero-distractions for 25minutes, or the use of index cards to be revised across a period of time (like days) rather than cramming, or discussing with peers, and so on.
I guess some of what I've learnt will seep out of my memory soon if I don't work at putting them into my Long Term Memory. But I digress. Perhaps the topics have been so interesting, they are seeping into my LTM during my diffused modes.
But yes, I will review the materials when I study for new stuff next time. It's been useful.
And again, appreciative of all these learning opportunities, and the time to have them. Blessed.
Oh and I'm almost done with the course. Shall finish up tomorrow, then move on to Negotiation or Python if they're available. Onward!
A screenshot of the website, for keepsake :)
