Animal Day!
Namely, visiting the Petexpo at the Expo, and witnessing our first cat show organised by Feline Fanciers (It's a group that loves cats. A lot.) It's interesting how globalised our lives are now, that 2 of the judges who came down from Belgium almost couldn't make it due to the terrorist attacks on their airports.
That said, saw many beautiful cats, many of which are household cats but some are pedigree cats aka show cats, meant to be for competition.
There were other animals too, like the ever-popular dogs, as well as domesticated birds.
Warning: LOADS of photos ahead! Credit to the SO and her Olympus E-PL7 for the awesome photos

Cat Show!

| One of many "grouchy" cats that never fails to crack me up with their sulking faces at rest. It's like a resting bitch face |
| Each judgement takes about 30-60 seconds of scrutiny |
| No furball is overlooked |
| Wonder what she's feeling. Wonder what it's feeling. |
| My friend's "grouchy" cat, which was extremely responsive to the cat toys & feather |
| "No leniency please even though it's my cat!" seems to be the exchange |
| One of the SO's favourite |
| It has a very classy feel to it |
| Never fails to amaze me just how long these cats actually can be, when they are stretched out |
| Cat-handling |
| Sphynx Cat. Apparently hairless cats make oily messes |
| "Kitty Scratch Post" is, of course, one of the judging criteria. Takes pedigree to make a cat scratch one |
Dogs
| This statuesque dog greeted us as we wandered around. Motionless is his middle name |
| Speed dating for dogs, I kid you not. First World Problem applies to them dogs too |
Honestly I find clothed dogs weird-looking. Yes I like 'em neeked
After the pet-xperience and the pet-ucation, and dinner, we headed to the cinemas to catch Zootopia, a mix of Zoo and Utopia of course. I had to admit, I totally did not consider watching this show initially as I thought it was just another animated. Boy was I wrong.
Firstly, it fitted the theme of the day so well. More. Animals. That said, it's not just a random animal show in an animal habitat (I'm looking at you, trailer of The Jungle Book), but more of an animal-taking-human-characteristics animated with a pretty good plot development. It's like a detective show with values to be taught. Using animal characteristics to depict how stereotyping can be oh-so-terrible for those with negative stereotypes, I think it helps to deliver the underlying message that we are all the same even with the numerous tags on us, some more unfair than others.
I guess the main take away is this: that some animals have so much better lives than us (air-conditioning everywhere the show cats go?? Thailand has some craaaazzyyy cat caretakers) while others don't. Think farm animals.
Oh a coincidence. I was watching a video on what if the whole world turns vegetarian all of a sudden. No methane from the farm animals which contribute to global warming quite a bit, and possibly restoration of forests. (but then again we will still need lots of land for growing crops. Go Vertical Farming!) Overall a better place. But how to give up meats?
Okay my eyes are almost shutting already. May I dream of sheep that count themselves when they sleep (reference to Zootopia. Yes, a sheep stereotype)
